Our Staff

Rev. Dr. William Barcley

Senior Pastor

Dr. Barcley came to Sovereign Grace in 2007. He is also currently Adjunct Professor of New Testament at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary and Reformed Theological Seminary. Previously, he was Professor of New Testament and Academic Dean at Reformed Theological Seminary in Jackson, MS, and served as pastor of Lebanon Presbyterian Church in Learned, MS. He earned a BA in Biblical Studies from Gordon College, a MA in Theological Studies from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary and a PhD in New Testament from Boston University.

He has written several books including The Secret of Contentment (P&R Publishing Co., 2010), Gospel Clarity: Challenging the New Perspective on Paul (Evangelical Press, 2010), and 1 & 2 Timothy: EP Study Commentary (Evangelical Press, 2006). Click here for his full curriculum vitae.

Bill and his wife Kristy have six children.

Rev. Dean Turbeville

Pastor in Residence

Rev. Turbeville came to Sovereign Grace in 2012. Previously, he served as senior pastor at All Saints Presbyterian Church in Charlotte, NC. He earned a BA in History and Religion from the University of South Carolina and an DMin from Union Theological Seminary in Richmond, VA.

Dean and his wife Nancy have three adult children.

Rob Dykes

Assistant to the Pastor

Rob came to Sovereign Grace in January of 2017. He previously served for three years at Immanuel Presbyterian Church (EPCEW), Cardiff, Wales, and had a short spell as a youth worker in London, England. He earned a BSc Honors at Swansea Metropolitan University in Wales, and a MDiv at Greenville Presbyterian Theological Seminary in Greenville, SC.

Rob was born and raised in Scotland, and spent many years in Wales. He is married to Ashley and they have one boy, Bertie.

Dr. John Currid

Pastor of Preaching and Teaching

Dr. Currid joined the staff of Sovereign Grace in June of 2016. Dr. Currid is also Professor of Old Testament at Reformed Theological Seminary in Charlotte. He has been a part of the RTS faculty for 20 years. Prior to his time at RTS, he served as Associate Professor of Religion at Grove City College. He is currently an adjunct faculty member at the Jerusalem Center for Biblical Studies in Jerusalem, Israel. Dr. Currid serves as Project Director of the Bethsaida Excavations Project in Israel (1995-present).

John and his wife Nancy have two adult children.

Danielle Belcher

Church Administrator

Danielle has been a member of Sovereign Grace since 2011, and joined the staff in 2016 as the Church Administrator. She has a BS in Elementary Education from Erskine College. Her prior work experience includes executive level support of partners at Ernst & Young, LLP in Charlotte, NC, office management of a Christian School in Lilburn, GA, and teaching fourth grade in Lancaster, SC.

Jenni Henderson

Director of Children's Ministry

Jenni has been a member of Sovereign Grace since 2008. She earned a BS in Education from Baylor University and an MLA from Southern Methodist University. Prior to her work at Sovereign Grace, she worked as a teacher in Texas and as a tutor in Paris, France.

Jenni and her husband Ryan have two young children.

Chris Diebold

Pastoral Intern

Chris is a student at Reformed Theological Seminary in Charlotte, NC. He earned a BA in Classics and BS in Chemistry at Washington & Lee University and a MS in Commerce at the University of Virginia.

Chris and his wife Sarah have one daughter, Lily.

Don Stager

Pastoral Intern

Don graduated with a B.A. in history from Arizona State University and taught both middle school and high school history and economics. He is a student at RTS Charlotte.

Don is married to Becky and they have one son, James.

Steve McCullough

Pastoral Intern

Steve comes from the Atlanta area where he was raised and attended college at Kennesaw State University. As an undergraduate, he joined Midway Presbyterian Church in Powder Springs, GA. After graduating from KSU, he attended Greenville Presbyterian Theological Seminary for 2 years. He then transferred to Reformed Theological Seminary last fall.
