Our Pastor

Dr. Bill Barcley came to Sovereign Grace church in 2007, after six years as Professor of New Testament at Reformed Theological Seminary in Jackson, Mississippi. The last year and a half he served RTS as Academic Dean. He also served from 2003-2006 as Pastor of Lebanon Presbyterian Church in Learned, Mississippi. Prior to moving to Mississippi, Dr. Barcley was Associate Professor of Biblical and Theological Studies at Gordon College in Wenham, Massachusetts.
Dr. Barcley earned his Ph.D. in New Testament from Boston University, his Master's degree from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary and his Bachelor of Arts degree from Gordon College. He has been a lecturer in Biblical studies, served as an assistant pastor at several churches and taught junior high and high school history and Bible classes at a Christian school in Florida.
Dr. Barcley has also published two books: 1 and 2 Timothy (Evangelical Press, Study Commentary Series) and "Christ in You": A Study in Paul's Theology and Ethics (University Press of America). He has one book awaiting pulication and two other books in progress. He has written several articles and book reviews, including most recently a review of Brian Vickers' book Jesus' Blood and Righteousness (Crossway) for Reformation 21 online magazine.
Dr. Barcley is also currently an Adjunct Professor at Reformed Theological Seminary.
Dr. Barcley and his wife Kristy have six children ranging in age from 8-18 years.
