Promotion Sunday

Promotion Sunday is an annual occurrence in which many children are moved into a new Sunday school class corresponding to their new grade in school. We have 4 children's Sunday school classes: 4-5 year olds, Kindergarten-1st grade, 2nd-3rd grade, and 4th and 5th grade. On this Sunday, the children who are moving to a new age group based on their school grade will move up into their respective new classes. We value these Sunday schools as a way for the church to come alongside parents in ministering to their children. In each of these classes, children will be taught the Bible, hymns which we sing in worship, and they will be cared for by older members of our congregation. Those who are going into middle school or high school will also transition to their respective classes in the youth ministry. Below you will find a brief description of each class and their respective locations.

Our two adult Sunday Schools and both youth Sunday schools will be beginning new studies on this date as well. If you have not been to Sunday school, now is a great time to join us from 9:45-10:45am on Sunday mornings!

Adult/Youth Fall Kickoff

High School Sunday School

Location: Youth Room

Primary Teacher/s: Pastor Ricky Johnson

Topic: The Church

The church, as the bride for whom Christ died, is something that Christians ought to love and devote themselves to in a passionate way. Though it is easy for teenagers whose parents are believers to be in the church, it can be hard to love the church. This fall, we will discuss the theology, purpose, mission, and importance of the church in the world and in our personal lives.

Middle School Sunday School

Location: Middle School Room

Primary Teacher/s: Various Teachers

Topic: Taking God at His Word by Kevin DeYoung

The Bible is despised in the world and often neglected in the life of young people. However, it is the very Word of God and the rule which God has given to direct us how we may glorify and enjoy him. This fall the middle schoolers will study the theology of Scripture in hopes that it will increase their trust in God's Word, their love for it, and their devotion to it.

Main Adult Sunday School

Location: Fellowship Hall

Primary Teacher/s: Pastoral Interns

Topic: The Life of Solomon

During the months of September and October the main adult Sunday school class will study the life of Solomon. Solomon is a major figure in Old Testament history, and this class will highlight key events, themes, and lessons to be learned from his life. We will also highlight his place in the Old Testament and in redemptive history.

Young Adult Sunday School

Location: Calvin Hall

Teacher/s: Pastor Will Keyton

Topic: Nicene Creed

Once per month, we as a congregation recite the Nicene Creed together in worship. It's a familiar formula, yet easy to say without much thought. What does it mean that Jesus is the "only-begotten" Son of God? What does "God of God" mean? Why is it so similar but also different from the more-familiar Apostles' Creed? This fall the young adults will be taking an in-depth look at the Nicene Creed - its history, its biblical basis, and its use for growth in godliness.
